The Wedding Song:
Tunis, 1942. Two teenage girls - one Jewish, the other Muslim - have been close friends since childhood and share the same house in a neighbourhood where Jews and Muslims have always lived in harmony. When the German army enters the city everything changes forever. With deep insight and sensitivity to the plight of the two girls, trapped by the expectations of their patriarchal cultures, director Karin Albou (La Petite Jerusalem) evokes the deeply sensual world of their childhood and their immense pain as it becomes torn apart.
Khasenjah: The Jamaican Jewish Wedding
When a nice Jewish boy marries an equally nice Jamaican girl, the stage is set for fireworks. But when the wedding music starts, the prejudices (and inhibitions) melt. A sweet and vibrant mini-musical, lovingly directed by the late David Stein.
